Most importantly, I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to a wonderfully close-knit family.  My husband and I have a blended family that includes 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren!!!!  I am blessed to still have both my parents with me, still teaching me and loving me!  And I have two wonderful brothers who hang around and pester me from time to time!  :)

I am a retired teacher, having taught in South Carolina for nearly 30 years!  First graders, fifth graders, sixth, seventh and eighth graders sat somewhat patiently as I tried to enrich their lives with what knowledge I could give them.  Several of those many years were spent teaching and functioning as a drill instructor at a military bootcamp-styled alternative school for high-risk kids in grades 5-8.  I think those were the most rewarding of my career!  The last three years of my career were in a middle school setting teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies and science.

I really miss the kids and, after a few years of rejuvenation and rest, I began my journey as a Guardian ad Litem, once again working with 'my kids' and having faith that I'm making a difference and having an impression on their young lives!

I've always loved drawing and sketching, tho' I never felt I was particularly talented.  My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was in my 20s and I recently took the needle back in hand and began to crochet again, as well as painting and sketching!  I'm having a blast!

My other interests include writing, reading, hiking, swimming and camping.  We are blessed with two fur-babies who keep the energy of our home alive!
